Providing the Gift of Time to Children & Families This Holiday Season
The season of gratitude & giving is officially here, and for so many of us, we're looking to find more ways to spread holiday cheer. Some of us are already committed to supporting our favorite non-profits, while others have pledged to do more by tapping into local non-profits that are focused on families.
With #GivingTuesday just a few days away, we want to introduce you to a local non-profit committed to supporting families and children impacted by childhood cancer: Leia's Kids.
About Leia's Kids
Founder: DPW Business Member, Leia Hunt
Leia developed and founded Leia's Kids (http://www.leiaskids.org), while a senior in high school, in Steubenville, OH. Leia's Kids is a non-profit organization, with the mission to spread hope and bring financial support to children and their families that are actively battling childhood cancer. Leia's Kids actively partners with generous donors and community partners to support the children and their families.
Leia robustly advocates for childhood cancer awareness and the childhood battle against cancer, as she is a two-time retinoblastoma cancer survivor herself. Not only do she lead an organization and its unique mission, but she also publicly advocates for childhood cancer awareness through personal, faith-filled inspirational messages and public speaking events.
What Leia’s Kids Does for Kids:
Crown A Kid Party - We throw a special party for the child to celebrate their courage.
Covers Surprise Costs - We help parents cover things like unexpected travel or child-care.
Community Exposure - We build community for parents and kids facing cancer.
Emotional Support - We walk with families because we understand what it’s like to have a child with cancer.
When you give to the Leia’s Kids Foundation you are giving a family more TIME with their child. You are giving parents the opportunity to sit at their child’s bedside as they fight childhood cancer. No parent should choose between having to pay the electric bill or to hold their sick child in their arms. Be the light in someone’s darkness - be the LINK.
2021 End of Year GOAL: Help Leia’s Kids reach the goal of $1,000 to help crown our newest kiddos - Ella and Eve. Ella and Eve are three year old twins that are battling Retinoblastoma, eye cancer. Your contribution will go directly to the family to help give their parents TIME to hold their sweet girls.
